ANC Pays Tribute to Chris Hani Councillor Nomfombo
The African National Congress (ANC) in the Eastern Cape has paid tribute to Ntomboxolo Nomfombo during a memorial gathering held at Ngcobo Town Hall.
Nomfombo, who also served as a councillor in the Chris Hani District Municipality, was honoured by members of the organisation, family, friends, and community members who gathered to reflect on her life and contribution.
The event, organised by the party’s Dr AB Xuma Sub-Region, brought together attendees in a show of unity and remembrance. According to the ANC Eastern Cape, the gathering aimed to celebrate her life and recognise her role as a dedicated servant of the people.
Chris Hani District Municipality Executive Mayor Lusanda Sizani was among those present and highlighted Nomfombo’s contribution within the organisation and government. She was described as a committed activist who remained focused on advancing the work of the movement.
The ANC stated that Nomfombo was known for her humility and selfless service, qualities that left a lasting impression on those who worked alongside her. The organisation said her contribution would continue to live on through the work carried forward by others within the movement and the communities she served.
While no further details about the circumstances of her passing were provided, the focus of the memorial remained on her life, her work, and the values she upheld.
Memorial gatherings such as these form part of the ANC’s practice of recognising individuals who have contributed to both organisational structures and community development. They also serve as moments for reflection and renewed commitment among members.
The ANC Eastern Cape extended condolences to Nomfombo’s family, friends, and colleagues, stating that her legacy would remain part of the organisation’s ongoing work in the region.
