Whittlesea residents have renewed calls for municipal intervention to improve road conditions and cleanliness in the township.

Community members say they have been waiting for alternative and sustainable methods from the municipality to repair damaged roads, while also calling for regular cleaning and waste-removal services in affected areas.

Residents say poor road conditions continue to make travelling difficult for motorists, public transport operators and pedestrians. They have appealed for an intervention that will not only address immediate potholes and damaged sections, but provide longer-term maintenance to prevent roads from deteriorating further.

The calls also include concerns over the general cleanliness of parts of the township. Residents want the municipality to strengthen its cleaning programme and ensure rubbish is removed consistently to help create a safer and healthier environment.

The concerns come as communities across the region continue to raise issues about ageing infrastructure, service delivery backlogs and the need for visible maintenance in residential areas.

Komani News has requested comment from the relevant municipality on whether any road repairs, cleaning operations or alternative maintenance plans are planned for Whittlesea. This article will be updated once a response is received.
