CBD, Nonesi Mall among areas affected by outage

The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality says it has identified an alternative solution aimed at restoring electricity to areas affected by the latest power interruption in Komani.

The outage has affected parts of the CBD, Nonesi Mall, Bhede and sections of Southbourne after a cable fault disrupted supply.

According to the municipality, the damaged cable has now been terminated and isolated while technical teams remain on site implementing an alternative supply arrangement.

Officials said work on repairing the damaged cable itself will begin on Thursday.

The municipality believes the alternative solution should restore power to the affected areas while repairs to the faulty cable are carried out.

No timeframe has yet been provided for when electricity will return, but municipal teams continue working on site.
