Dr AB Xuma Municipality Dismisses Salary Payment Claims

The Dr AB Xuma Local Municipality has moved to reassure employees and residents after claims circulated alleging that municipal workers had not received their June salaries.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, the municipality described the reports as “false and misleading”, stating that all employees were paid their June 2026 salaries on time in line with the municipality’s approved payroll schedule. The municipality further confirmed that employee benefits were also processed and paid accordingly.

The statement comes amid the circulation of claims on social media and other platforms suggesting that salary payments had been delayed or withheld.

According to the municipality, there were no disruptions to the payment process and all financial obligations relating to employee remuneration for June had been honoured as scheduled.

Municipal officials urged members of the public to verify information through official communication channels before sharing or acting on unverified reports.

“The Municipality values the dedication and continued service of its workforce and will continue to ensure that its commitments to employees are honoured,” the statement said.

The municipality further called on residents to disregard what it described as unfounded claims and to rely only on information published through its official communication platforms.
