Six Injured After Vehicle Hits Cow on R61 Near Tarkastad
Six people were injured after a vehicle collided with a cow on the R61 near Tarkastad on Saturday evening.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at approximately 7pm on 6 June 2026.
According to emergency officials, six occupants sustained injuries in the collision and were transported to Frontier Hospital for medical treatment.
No fatalities were reported and no occupants were trapped in the vehicle.
Emergency personnel, SAPS members from Tarkastad and a breakdown recovery service responded to the incident.
The crash is the latest in a series of collisions involving livestock on Eastern Cape roads. Motorists travelling on rural routes are urged to remain alert, particularly after dark when animals are often more difficult to spot.
Authorities continue to encourage livestock owners to ensure their animals are properly secured and kept away from roadways to help prevent accidents.
