Businesses Near Top Of Cathcart Road Still Without Power After Two Weeks

Komani News has received complaints from business owners operating near the top of Cathcart Road in Komani, close to Superspar, who say they are still without electricity more than two weeks after the outage began.

According to affected businesses, the prolonged outage is continuing to disrupt daily operations and causing mounting frustration among tenants, employees, and customers in the area.

Business owners told Komani News the lack of electricity has made it increasingly difficult to continue operating normally.

Some say they have had to reduce trading hours, while others claim the outage is affecting equipment, refrigeration, electronic payment systems, and general business activity.

Several business owners said the uncertainty surrounding the outage is one of their biggest concerns, as they still do not know when electricity will be restored.

The outage is also reportedly affecting surrounding activity in the area, with businesses saying customers are being inconvenienced and some operations are struggling to function effectively without reliable power.

Komani News sent questions to Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality requesting comment on the cause of the outage, what repair work is currently underway, and whether there is an estimated timeframe for restoration.

Questions were also sent asking whether the municipality is aware of the impact the prolonged outage is allegedly having on businesses in the area.

At the time of publication, no response had been received from the municipality.

The ongoing situation has added to wider concerns among some residents and businesses in Komani regarding electricity faults, ageing infrastructure, and delays in repairs.

Business owners in the affected area say they are hoping for urgent intervention as the disruption now stretches beyond two weeks.
