Komani power outage reports disputed by municipality

KOMANI – Reports that large parts of Komani were without electricity overnight have been disputed by the local municipality.

Residents in areas including Komani Park, Sandringham ,parts of the CBD and other areas reported that they were left without power during the night and into the early hours of this morning (30 April).

However, when approached for comment, Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality spokesperson Lonwabo Kowa said:
“The town had, and still has electricity supply.”

Conflicting accounts

The response from the municipality stands in contrast to multiple reports received by Komani News from residents who said they experienced outages in specific parts of town.

At this stage, it remains unclear:

• Whether the outages were isolated to certain areas
• What may have caused the reported loss of power
• Whether any faults were officially recorded
