Power Interruption Affects Blue Rise and Parts of Aloevale as Repairs Continue
Residents of Blue Rise and a portion of Aloevale in Komani are experiencing ongoing electricity supply interruptions as technicians work to repair underground cable faults affecting the areas.
According to a notice issued by the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM), faults were detected following cable testing conducted between the Blue Rise area and the St Catherine mini substation, as well as within a section of Aloevale. Municipal technical teams are currently on site attending to the problem.
The municipality has confirmed that repair work is actively underway, with cable joining and trenching operations in progress to restore power supply as soon as possible.
Fault Detected Between Blue Rise and St Catherine Mini Substation
EMLM said technical assessments were carried out on the electricity cable linking Blue Rise to the St Catherine mini substation, where a fault was successfully identified.
Municipal officials confirmed that a technical team has been deployed to the site and has already commenced with cable joining work, a process required to repair damaged underground electricity infrastructure.
While no exact restoration time has been provided, the municipality indicated that the work is ongoing and forms part of efforts to stabilise electricity supply in the affected area.
Portion of Aloevale Also Impacted
In a separate but related issue, residents in a portion of Aloevale are also without electricity after cable testing conducted earlier on Tuesday morning revealed another fault.
The municipality said its technical team is currently on site and has begun trenching work, which is necessary to access the damaged cable before repairs and cable joining can take place.
Trenching involves excavating the ground to expose underground cables and is considered a standard procedure in addressing such faults.
Municipality Confirms Technicians on Site
The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality stressed that technical teams are actively attending to both sites and that the work forms part of routine fault resolution processes following infrastructure failures.
Residents have been urged to remain patient while the repairs are being completed and to treat all electrical infrastructure with caution during the outage period.
Residents Advised to Exercise Caution
The municipality has advised residents in both Blue Rise and Aloevale to avoid interfering with electrical equipment and to report any exposed cables or unsafe conditions to municipal offices.
No injuries or safety incidents related to the current faults have been reported at the time of publication.
EMLM said further updates will be communicated once repairs are completed and electricity supply is fully restored.
