Evening Collision on R67 Outside Whittlesea Leaves One Injured
Whittlesea, Eastern Cape – 11 January 2026: A motor vehicle accident occurred on the R67.5 outside Whittlesea on Sunday evening at approximately 19:00, resulting in one person being injured.
The collision involved two vehicles in a side-swipe incident when a Polo vehicle was making a U-turn. Emergency services responded promptly, including local EMS units, the South African Police Service (SAPS), and roadside assistance.
EMS triage confirmed that one female patient was transported to Hewu Hospital for further medical attention. The driver of the second vehicle declined treatment at the scene. Authorities reported that the accident caused minor traffic disruption but was cleared without further issues.
Officials urge motorists to remain vigilant while driving, especially during evening hours and when performing maneuvers such as U-turns. Road users are reminded to follow traffic rules to prevent similar incidents.
