Zama Nobevu will walk 831km alone from Greenfields to his Eastern Cape homestead of Ngcobo to raise funds for a rural skills centre.
Nobevu, founder of Pariio Foundation NPC, sets off on 1 November via the N1 through Vereeniging, Ventersburg and Bloemfontein.
The aim is to build a handwork skills centre that equips youth and adults with practical skills to create their own jobs and employ others.
“There is more to build if we all stop neglecting that land,” Nobevu said.
He has already trained 120 people through the Pariio Community Skills Centre and now wants to take the model national, starting with Ngcobo where rural land is seen as a place to leave, not build on.
A nature lover, Nobevu said the solo walk is deliberate — to reconnect with his roots and spark conversations about unemployment along the way.
His campaign line: “One step. One purpose. One community. One future.”
