Komani’s football fraternity is in mourning after Timers Football Community player Last Kule Chitsa collapsed and died at Sandringham Sports Field on Wednesday while playing the game he loved.
Komani Veterans Football Club, where Kule trained from Monday to Thursday, announced the sudden loss with deep shock. Though he proudly wore Timers’ colours, Kule was a familiar face at Veterans’ sessions and built relationships across rival teams.
“While he proudly wore Timers’ colours, Kule trained with us from Monday to Thursday,” the club said in a tribute. “He was more than a player – a true socialite who got along with everyone, including rival teams. His smile, energy, and sportsmanship touched every field he stepped on.”
Despite resuscitation efforts at the field, Kule could not be saved.
Komani Veterans FC extended condolences to his family, friends and the entire Timers Football Community.
“As Komani Veterans FC, we send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the entire Timers Football Community. May his soul rest in peace.”
The incident has left players and officials across Komani’s leagues reflecting on the fragility of life and the unifying power of sport.
