Power Outage Hits Dordrecht Town Due to Faulty Underground Cables
Power Outage Disrupts Electricity in Dordrecht Due to Faulty Underground Cables
Dordrecht, Eastern Cape: Residents of Dordrecht are facing an unexpected power outage today following a fault in the town’s underground electricity cables. The outage has affected several areas of the town, leaving households and businesses without electricity.
Cause of the Outage
According to the municipality, the power failure is due to a ground cable fault. The exact cause is still under investigation. “We are trying to secure the services of our service providers to identify and fix the problem,” said the municipal office in a public notice. However, the festive season holidays have slowed down the response, making it difficult for technicians to attend to the fault promptly.
Restoration Efforts
The municipality has confirmed that the power is unlikely to be restored today. Technical teams are actively working to find a solution, and every effort will be made to restore electricity as soon as possible. Residents are urged to remain patient while the repair work is carried out.
Public Apology and Contact Information
The municipality has apologised for the inconvenience caused by the power outage. Residents seeking more information or updates can contact the Manager of Electricity, Mr M. Zibi, on 083 686 4263.
The statement was issued by the Communications Unit of the office of the Municipal Manager, emphasising that the municipality is committed to keeping residents informed as the situation develops.
