One killed as vehicle overturns near Engcobo

One person was killed and six others, including a two-year-old child, were injured when a vehicle overturned on the R61 on Wednesday afternoon, 5 August.

The crash occurred at about 16:38, approximately 30km from Engcobo towards Cofimvaba.

According to a preliminary emergency services report, one person was declared dead at the scene. Three patients sustained serious injuries, while two others suffered minor injuries. A two-year-old child was also transported for medical treatment.

Emergency medical services, rescue personnel and provincial traffic officials attended the scene.

One side of the road was temporarily closed while emergency teams worked at the scene. The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately known.
