Residents of Khayelitsha in Mlungisi are living in dire conditions as sewage overflows straight from their yards.

These residents are complaining that since the paved road was done they have been having overflowing sewage on a daily basis.

When Komani News visited the area, it was polluted with stagnant water, litter, and poor drainage, suggesting inadequate waste management and infrastructure issues.

The presence of trash, murky water, and unkempt surroundings indicates environmental neglect.

One of the residents said they can’t even sit outside because of the stench from the sewer.

“The road is wet as the sewage water runs across the road and in front of our yards,” said another resident.

Zukisani Mdi said the drains are blocked and the sewer water makes it difficult for people to get out of their houses.

“This is bad, no one deserves to live under these conditions. Something needs to be done to fix the problem,” he said.
