Elderly Man Dies After House Fire in Komani
A 71-year-old man has died after a house fire at Merino Walk Village, Ward 20, in Komani.
According to information received by Komani News, the incident occurred at approximately 03:00 on Friday, 3 January 2026. The man was inside his home when the fire broke out and sustained serious burn injuries.
It has been confirmed that neighbours transported the man to hospital, where he later passed away as a result of his injuries.
Cause of fire still unknown
At this stage, the cause of the fire remains unknown.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) has opened an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the fire. A case docket has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
