Residents gathered at the newly constructed Whittlesea Multi-Purpose Hall this week as Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane commended the progress made by Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality in improving service delivery across the municipality.

The Premier’s remarks followed an oversight visit to several projects and service delivery sites within the municipality, where he assessed ongoing developments and infrastructure improvements.

Among the areas highlighted were road construction and block-paving projects aimed at improving accessibility in communities, as well as the construction of bridges and low-level crossings to improve connectivity and safety for residents during adverse weather conditions.

Premier Mabuyane also pointed to improvements in the reliability of electricity supply and acknowledged efforts by the municipality to address and service its debt owed to Eskom.

Governance within the municipality was another area singled out for praise, with the Premier noting that improved administration and oversight are beginning to translate into visible benefits for communities.

Addressing scores of residents gathered at the hall, Mabuyane said the progress being witnessed in Whittlesea and surrounding areas reflects a commitment to improving living conditions and delivering services that communities depend on.
