Emalahleni Mayor to Visit Glen Grey, Indwe and Dordrecht Hospitals on Christmas and New Year
The Executive Mayor of the Emalahleni Local Municipality, Councillor Nontombizanele Koni, will visit several hospitals in the region on Christmas Day, 25 December 2025, and New Year’s Day, 1 January 2026, as part of a festive season outreach programme focused on supporting newborn babies and their families.
The Mayor is scheduled to begin her hospital visits at 10:00 at Glen Grey Hospital, before proceeding to Indwe Hospital and then Dordrecht Hospital on both days.
During the visits, Councillor Koni will hand over gifts to newborn babies born on the respective days, while also engaging with mothers, healthcare workers and hospital management who will be on duty during the festive period.
The initiative forms part of the Emalahleni Local Municipality’s broader festive season programme and aims to bring encouragement and support to families welcoming new life during Christmas and the New Year. It also reflects the municipality’s commitment to maternal and child health, as well as ongoing engagement with public healthcare facilities in the area.
Municipal officials and hospital representatives are expected to accompany the Mayor during the visits. The programme will provide an opportunity to acknowledge the work of healthcare staff who continue to serve communities throughout the holiday period.
The Emalahleni Local Municipality has encouraged residents to observe safety measures and make responsible decisions during the festive season to help ease pressure on local hospitals and emergency services.
