Doctor Released on Bail After Alleged Sexual Assault Case

A doctor was released on R5 000 bail on Wednesday (18/02) after appearing in the Komani Magistrate’s Court on a charge of sexual assault.

According to police spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, the doctor was arrested on Wednesday by members of the Komani Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit following allegations made by a 22-year-old woman.

Mgolodela said the alleged incident occurred on February 11 when the complainant visited the doctor’s surgery.

“According to the complainant, the doctor offered her a free whole body examination, during which she alleges he forced himself on her.”

“She further reports that she was instructed not to scream as there were patients in the surgery,” said Mgolodela.

Police said the complainant also alleged that she was given a voucher to purchase a morning-after pill, as the incident allegedly occurred without a condom.

The matter was reported to Mlungisi Police and handed over to Komani FCS for investigation, which led to the arrest.

The accused appeared before the Komani Magistrate’s Court on the same day and was granted R5 000 bail with conditions. He is expected to reappear in court on April 30, 2026, pending the finalisation of the investigation.

The accused has not yet entered a plea and is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Komani District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph condemned the alleged conduct and urged investigators to ensure that justice is served.
