Buffalo Springs Spur in Cathcart Road, Komani, says it had to run a generator on Friday, 25 September, after the voltage on two of its electrical phases dropped.

A representative said the problem began at about 10:15 and was reported in person at Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality’s Technical Services office at 12:45. According to the representative, a staff member said technicians were on their way.

By 15:50, more than three hours after the report was made, the business said no technicians had arrived. It also said low voltage had become a daily problem at the premises.

Municipal spokesperson Lonwabo Kowa confirmed that the municipality had received the complaint and said the customer would be assisted on Friday.

“Reported cases are normally resolved within a day, unless there is a major fault,” Kowa said. He confirmed that the team had other faults to attend to and said it aimed to complete all repairs within a day.

Kowa said faults could be reported through the Municipal Customer Call Centre or at the Technical Services office. He added that customers had the right to follow up with the municipality for updates.

His response did not explain the delay after the business was told technicians were on their way. The municipality also did not specify the cause of the low voltage or address the business’s claim that it happens daily.
