Nxuba man arrested after daughter opens rape case
A 44-year-old man was arrested on Sunday night for allegedly raping his 22-year-old biological daughter at their home in Hillside, Nxuba.
According to Eastern Cape police, the incident occurred around 09:00 on 17 August 2026.
The victim told police she was lying on her bed when her father arrived and forced himself on her. She said she tried to fight him off but was unable to.
Police allege that after the rape, the suspect warned his daughter not to report the incident and promised to take care of her because he was expecting a Road Accident Fund payout.
Following the ordeal, the victim opened a rape case at Nxuba Police Station.
Members of the Nxuba Crime Prevention Unit traced and arrested the suspect during the evening hours of 17 August 2026.
Due in court
The suspect is expected to make his first appearance in the Nxuba Magistrate’s Court today, 18 August 2026, on a charge of rape.
District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph commended the Nxuba police for their swift response.
He condemned the alleged actions, saying: “We condemn the father’s conduct to his biological daughter while the fight against gender based violence is the theme of the month during Women’s Month.”
