In a media statement issued on Monday, 22 June 2026, MKP regional spokesperson Noncedo Ndlwana cited two incidents in Vuyisile Mini and Enoch Mgijima municipalities.

At Mbinzana J.S voting station in Ward 4, Vuyisile Mini Municipality, MKP alleges that IEC officials advised community members to “also visit the ANC information table and register their names immediately after registering to vote”.

In Ward 9, Enoch Mgijima Municipality, the party claims the ANC held a branch candidate nomination meeting in the same venue as the Sunshine Village Old Age Home voting station. MKP described this as “deliberately done to intimidate non-supporters of the ANC and affirm the long standing alliance between the ANC and IEC”.

The party said the incidents confirm its concern about “the ongoing standing friendship between the ANC and the IEC”. MKP also questioned the IEC’s 2026 voter registration weekend poster, saying it “appeared in the ANC colours and not those reflecting the identity of the IEC”.

“This selfish behaviour by the IEC suggests that the November 4 elections will never be free and fair,” the statement read. “We hope that the IEC leadership, as compromised as they seem to be, can treat this matter with the seriousness and the urgency it deserves.”
