Private security team arrests three suspects in early morning incidents

A private security company operating in Komani has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in two separate incidents that took place early on Monday morning.

According to a statement issued by Watchful Safety and Security, the arrests occurred on 23 February 2026 at approximately 06:40 during routine patrols.

Suspect found with stolen tyres

In the first incident, a Watchful investigator and response officer were patrolling when they encountered a suspect allegedly in possession of two stolen tyres.

The suspect was arrested on a charge of theft of tyres. The tyres were confiscated and the suspect was later handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS) for further investigation and processing.

Two arrested for alleged robbery

In a separate incident shortly thereafter, the security team responded to a complaint from a man who reported that he had been robbed.

According to the statement, the complainant approached the patrol team and alleged that he had been struck on the head with a brick before losing consciousness. The suspects allegedly took his cellphone, blue push sandals, an Adidas bag and a wallet containing a bank card before fleeing the scene.

The injured man was transported to hospital for medical treatment.

The Watchful team followed up on information received and were able to trace and apprehend two suspects. Some of the stolen property was reportedly recovered.

Both suspects were arrested on charges of robbery and handed over to SAPS for further investigation.

Investigation continues

Police are expected to investigate both cases further. The suspects are likely to appear in court once formally charged.
