Unplanned Power Interruptions Affect Several Areas in Komani
KOMANI – Residents in several parts of Komani are experiencing unplanned electricity interruptions following faults on the local power network, the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has confirmed.
According to a notice issued by the municipality, a fault originating from the Komani Hospital Substation is currently affecting the Sabatha area.
Municipal electricity teams have been dispatched and are already onsite, where they are patrolling the overhead power line to locate and address the problem.
The municipality indicated that technical teams are actively working to identify the exact cause of the fault and restore supply as soon as it is safe to do so.
Meanwhile, Victoria Park, Aloevale, and New Valley have also been affected by an electricity outage. At this stage, the cause of the interruption in these areas has not yet been confirmed.
Municipal officials stated that the affected areas have been disconnected to allow for investigation and to ensure public safety.
A separate technical team has been dispatched to assess the situation and determine the source of the fault.
“The area is disconnected. At this stage the fault is unknown and another team has been despatched to investigate,” the municipality said in its update.
Residents in all affected areas have been urged to remain patient while teams conduct inspections and repair work.
The municipality has also warned the public to treat all electrical infrastructure as live and potentially dangerous during the outage period.
No estimated restoration time has been provided yet, as this will depend on the nature and severity of the faults once fully identified.
The Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality has assured residents that updates will be communicated as soon as more information becomes available, including progress reports and restoration timelines.
Unplanned power interruptions have become a growing concern for residents and businesses in Komani, particularly when outages affect critical infrastructure such as hospitals and surrounding communities.
Municipal officials have reiterated their commitment to responding swiftly to faults and minimising disruption where possible.
Residents experiencing continued outages after power is restored, or who notice damaged electrical infrastructure such as fallen lines or poles, are encouraged to report it directly to municipal fault-reporting channels.
