BLOOD BATH: Cops kill two suspects in gun battle

INANDA – A violent reign of terror has come to a bloody end in KwaZulu-Natal. Two suspects linked to a deadly double murder were shot dead by police on Wednesday afternoon.

The drama unfolded in the Amaoti area of Inanda, just a day after a brutal shooting left the community in shock.

BLOODY TUESDAY NIGHT

The chaos started on Tuesday night (6 January 2026) in the Ezimangweni area. According to police, gunmen opened fire on a group of four people.

The shooting was fatal for two victims, who died at the scene. A third person was left injured. Police immediately launched a manhunt to find those responsible for the bloodshed.

COPS CLOSE THE NET

SAPS officers worked around the clock to track down the killers. Their investigations first led to the arrest of five suspects linked to the Ezimangweni murders.

Police found these five suspects in possession of one real firearm and one replica gun. But the investigation didn’t stop there. Detectives received information that two more suspects were hiding at a house in Amaoti.

SHOOTOUT DRAMA

When police arrived at the Amaoti residence on Wednesday afternoon, the situation turned violent. The cornered suspects opened fire on the officers.

Police retaliated instantly. In the exchange of gunfire, both suspects were shot and fatally wounded. No police officers were reported injured.

REIGN OF TERROR ENDED

Police revealed that these suspects were not just wanted for Tuesday’s murders. They had allegedly been terrorizing the communities of Amaoti, Phoenix, and Mzomusha.

Two firearms were found with the deceased suspects.

The recovered firearms will now be sent for ballistic testing. Police want to see if these guns were used in other serious crimes in the province.
