Thunderstorm Warning Issued for Chris Hani District and Surrounding Areas

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Yellow (Level 2) warning for Severe Thunderstorms expected to hit parts of the Chris Hani District Municipality and neighboring areas tomorrow, Friday, December 5, 2025.

The warning is valid from 09:00 AM and will last until 06:59 PM on Friday, December 5, 2025.

The severe weather is expected to affect the following local municipalities and districts:

  • Chris Hani DM Localities: Emalahleni, Intsika Yethu, Sakhisizwe, and Engcobo Local Municipalities.

  • Other Affected Areas: Joe Gqabi District Municipality, Matatiele, Umzimvubu, and Mhlontlo Local Municipalities.

  • Stay Indoors: Avoid being outdoors during the warned period, especially between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
