The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Ward 14 launched a voter registration campaign at the Queenstown Child Care Centre in KwaZakhele, Mlungisi, on Saturday.

Ward party agents and SACP branch members joined the party’s Ward 14 candidate, Silulami Mayekiso, in encouraging residents to register and participate in the upcoming local government elections.

Mayekiso also serves as the convener of the SACP’s Enoch Mgijima Sub-district.

According to the branch, the campaign was aimed at increasing voter registration and creating greater awareness that the SACP will contest the local government elections independently.

The SACP has confirmed nationally that it will contest the 2026 municipal elections under its own banner.

South Africa’s local government elections are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.
