Nxuba Community Marches Against Insurance Policy Killings
Residents in Nxuba joined a peaceful march this week calling for an end to alleged insurance policy-related killings in the area, as concern continues to grow within the community.
According to a statement issued by Inxuba Yethemba Municipality, Executive Mayor Cllr Noncedo Zonke participated in the march alongside community members and local organisation Amadoda Elali.
The march coincided with the court appearance of two accused individuals linked to the matter.
Marchers proceeded to the local police station in Cradock, where discussions were held around community safety, cooperation with law enforcement, and efforts to address crime in the area.
The municipality said residents came together in solidarity during what it described as a difficult time for the community.
“The march served as a strong message of unity, justice, and the community’s determination to stand together in pursuit of safety and peace,” the statement read.
The issue of alleged insurance policy-related killings has sparked widespread concern across parts of the Eastern Cape in recent months, with communities increasingly calling for stronger action against violent crime.
No further details about the court proceedings or the accused were provided in the municipal statement.
