Municipality Reports Significant Progress in Smart Meter Installation
The local municipality has reported notable progress in its smart meter installation project, aimed at improving electricity management and service delivery for residents across the region.
Project Status and Progress
The project, which involves installing a total of 15,000 smart meters, has reached 64% completion. To date, 9,543 meters have been successfully installed. This leaves 5,457 meters remaining to be installed before the project reaches full completion.
The smart meter initiative forms part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to modernize electricity infrastructure, improve billing accuracy, and enhance efficiency in electricity distribution.
Resident Benefits and Digital Management
In addition to the installation of meters, residents are encouraged to use the Symphony app to manage their electricity accounts conveniently.
The app allows users to:
-
Load electricity tokens directly from their mobile devices.
-
Track electricity units in real-time.
-
Monitor usage and manage accounts more effectively.
The Symphony app is available for download on mobile devices, providing residents with a simple, digital way to stay informed and in control of their electricity consumption.
Looking Ahead
With just over one-third of the project remaining, the municipality is focused on completing the installation of the remaining 5,457 meters as efficiently as possible. Residents are advised to continue using the Symphony app to manage accounts and stay updated on electricity services.
The smart meter project is a key component of the municipality’s broader strategy to improve utility management and deliver more reliable and user-friendly services to the community.
