Colourful street parade set for Komani.
Komani residents can expect music, dancing and colour in the streets on Tuesday, 6 October, when the Field Band Foundation joins local young musicians for a free community parade.
The event will take place from 10:30 to 14:30 at Nonesi Mall on Victoria Road, with parades scheduled for 10:45 and 13:00.
The Field Band Foundation’s Red Honour Band will be joined by about 25 young local musicians.
The Field Band Foundation is a non-profit organisation that uses music, dance and structured band programmes to give young people opportunities to learn instruments and develop confidence and life skills.
FBF CEO Ushama Ross Jerrier said the event would celebrate young musicians and the communities supporting them.
“Every time our bands play, it’s a community celebrating its own talent,” she said.
The event is organised and sponsored by fintech company Lesaka and will also include free entertainment, giveaways and Spin & Win activities.
Lesaka Eastern Cape Provincial Head Tabile Sovita said the company wanted to celebrate alongside the communities in which it operates.
Attendance is free and families are invited to take part.
