Boy injured in alleged assault in Bilatyi village

A boy sustained head injuries in Bilatyi village on Friday evening, 25 September 2026, after he was allegedly assaulted by other boys.

An urgent request for an ambulance was made following the incident, with the boy described as badly injured. SAPS spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela said Bholotwa police could confirm that he had sustained head injuries at about 19:00.

Mgolodela said an ambulance was not readily available. The boy’s mother travelled from Komani to fetch him and take him for medical attention.

According to Mgolodela, the parent did not open a case. Police issued a J88 form for a doctor’s report, but nobody returned to open a case.

SAPS has confirmed the injuries but has not confirmed how they were sustained. Police did not provide further details about the alleged assault, the boy’s current condition or the medical treatment he received.
