THUGS WITH KNIVES ON THE PROWL!

KOMANI – A local man is lucky to be alive after a terrifying brush with knife-wielding thugs in the heart of the CBD.

The victim, who asked to remain anonymous for safety reasons, was walking along Cathcart Street near McDonald’s when he was approached by two men who appeared to be homeless. What started as a suspicious encounter quickly turned into a brazen daylight robbery.

“They just came up to me and started feeling around my pockets,” the victim told Komani News. “It happened so fast. By the time I realised my phone was gone, I confronted them.”

However, the victim’s attempt to get his property back was met with cold steel. When he asked the duo what they were doing, one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a knife, forcing the man to back off and watch his attackers flee into the bustling town centre.

Despite the harrowing ordeal, the victim has decided not to open a formal police case. He believes that because the suspects are homeless and constantly on the move, the chances of SAPS tracking them down are slim.

“I just want to warn others. People need to be extremely careful when walking through the central parts of Komani. Don’t take your safety for granted; these guys are bold and they are armed,” he warned.

Residents are urged to keep valuables out of sight and remain vigilant, as opportunistic crimes continue to plague high-traffic areas in town.
