Unplanned Water Supply Interruption Announced for Parts of Komani
Residents in several parts of Komani have been advised of an unplanned water supply interruption following a burst pipe in Douglas Street, the Chris Hani District Municipality confirmed.
According to the municipality, the water interruption is unavoidable and is required to allow technical teams to safely drain the affected pipeline and carry out urgent repair work early on Thursday morning.
Cause of the Interruption
Municipal officials indicated that the interruption is the result of a burst water pipe in Douglas Street. To prevent further damage and ensure repairs can be completed effectively, the water supply will be temporarily closed later today while the pipeline is drained.
Repair teams are expected to begin work early tomorrow morning, with water supply to be restored once repairs have been completed and the system has stabilised.

The following areas in Komani are expected to experience water supply interruptions:

The Chris Hani District Municipality has issued an apology to affected residents, acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the unplanned interruption, especially during the festive season.
In a public notice released on 25 December 2025, the municipality emphasised that the repairs are urgent and necessary to prevent further infrastructure damage and prolonged disruptions.
