BREAKING NEWS: Five Arrested in Whittlesea Kidnapping Case
KOMANI – A joint police and security operation has brought a dramatic end to a high-profile kidnapping case that unfolded in Whittlesea this past week, resulting in the arrest of five suspects and the recovery of cash, valuables, and an unlicensed firearm.
The incident began on Sunday evening, 28 September 2025, when a local resident was kidnapped in Whittlesea. On Monday morning, investigative teams visited the scene, and by Tuesday morning, the victim was safely released after a ransom was paid.
Determined to track down the perpetrators, the Komani SAPS team and supporting units launched a cross-province operation. On Tuesday, 30 September, officers traced the suspects to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), where the suspects’ vehicle was intercepted and surrounded. Three suspects were arrested on the spot, with authorities recovering an undisclosed amount of money and newly purchased items believed to have been acquired using ransom funds.
Later that day, a fourth suspect was arrested, and in the early hours of Wednesday morning, a fifth suspect was taken down in Whittlesea during a coordinated operation.
