Two separate issues involving water have been raised at Frontier Hospital in Komani, after videos circulated showing a possible leak near a ward and taps running continuously at another location inside the facility.

The videos were recorded by a local councillor, who highlighted both concerns and called for the matter to be addressed.

Water flowing outside Mapasa Ward

In one of the videos, water can be seen running along the ground outside what is identified as Mapasa Ward.

The councillor notes that the water appears clean and suggests it may be coming from a leaking pipe, although he indicates he could be corrected on the exact source.

If confirmed, the issue may point to a pipe leak or fault that could be causing unnecessary water loss.

Second video shows taps running continuously

In a separate video, two taps are shown running continuously, with water flowing freely and no visible way to turn them off.

This has raised further concern about potential water wastage within the hospital, particularly if the taps are faulty or not functioning properly.

Concerns over possible water wastage

While the exact causes of both issues have not been confirmed, the videos have sparked concern about the potential loss of clean water at a time when many communities in the Eastern Cape face ongoing water supply challenges.
