Family Sought After Komani Man Killed in Cape Town
Komani, Eastern Cape — A desperate appeal has been issued to help locate the family of a Molteno-born man who was shot and killed in Cape Town.
The late Thembalani Mtshikwana, believed to be about 44 years old, was fatally shot on Friday morning, 9 January, in Manenberg, Cape Town. Those who knew him say he had lived in Manenberg for several years, but originally grew up in Molteno, near Komani in the Eastern Cape.
According to friends assisting with the matter, Mtshikwana often mentioned that he was originally from Queenstown (Komani) and that his wife and children are still living in Komani. He also reportedly has a brother in Samora and a cousin named Victoria, but attempts to trace them have so far been unsuccessful.
Efforts were made to travel to Samora to locate family members, but those searching were unable to find the correct address or anyone who could assist. As a result, his body remains at the morgue, with no confirmed next of kin having come forward yet.
Those appealing for help say it is urgent that a family member comes forward to identify the deceased and assist with the necessary arrangements.
Residents of Molteno, Komani, Ezibeleni and surrounding areas are urged to share this information widely, especially among community networks, churches and families who may recognise the name or background.
Anyone who knows Thembalani Mtshikwana or his family is asked to make contact as soon as possible:
