The R392 between Komani and Dordrecht has been cleared following a service delivery protest by residents of Baptiz Village in Vaalbank, Ward 9, under Emalahleni Local Municipality, on Thursday morning.

The demonstration, which centred on water supply concerns, was resolved following engagements between the Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) and the affected communities.

According to CHDM, the community received a water engine on Thursday morning, which is now ready for installation.

The municipality confirmed that its technical team is currently working on installing the equipment. Once installation is completed, water pumping will begin, followed by the supply of water to affected communities.

The road has since been cleared, allowing traffic to move along the R392.

While the delivery of the equipment is a step towards addressing the water supply concerns, it remains unclear when water services will be fully restored to the affected communities.
