Two Separate Murder Cases Reported in Tarkastad as Community Mourns Victims

Two Killed in Separate Stabbing Incidents in Tarkastad

Two people lost their lives in separate stabbing incidents in Tarkastad last weekend, leaving the local community in mourning.

A memorial service for the two victims was held on Thursday, 5 February, where family members, friends and residents gathered to pay their respects and support the affected families.

The incidents occurred just hours apart on Saturday, 31 January, and are being investigated by the South African Police Service.

Man fatally stabbed in Zola location

The first incident took place at around 17:00 in Zola location, Tarkastad.

According to police information, a young man identified as Siyabonga Willie was stabbed during an altercation with an older man he was with at the time. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Tarkastad Hospital, where he was certified dead on arrival.

Police confirmed that only one person was killed during this incident.

Young woman killed in town later the same day

A second, unrelated incident occurred later that evening at around 18:00 in Tarkastad town.

Police said a young woman, Siyamthanda Blekiwe, was standing with two other girls when her ex-boyfriend approached and called her aside. During the encounter, she was allegedly stabbed.

Blekiwe attempted to flee but collapsed. She was rushed to hospital, where she passed away at approximately 22:00 the same night.

Community holds memorial service

A memorial service for both victims was held on Thursday, drawing residents from across Tarkastad who came together to mourn the loss of two young lives.

Community members expressed shock and sadness over the incidents, with calls for peace and an end to violent crime in the area.

Investigations ongoing

Police investigations into both incidents are continuing. No further official details regarding arrests or court proceedings have been confirmed at this stage.
