Mlungisi on Alert: 67-Year-Old Man Vanishes Without a Trace
Mlungisi, Komani – Authorities and the local community are in a state of concern following the disappearance of Thembekile Welcome Tsotetsi, a 67-year-old resident of Sizani Street, Mlungisi. Mr. Tsotetsi was last seen at his home on the evening of 22 July 2025, and despite extensive search efforts, there has been no sign of him.
According to relatives, the family became aware of his disappearance the following morning, 23 July, when he did not wake up or appear for his usual morning routine. “We searched the house and surrounding areas immediately, but there was no trace,” said a close family member. “It’s very worrying because Thembekile is a man who follows a routine and never goes missing without letting someone know.”
Last Known Appearance
Mr. Tsotetsi was reportedly wearing green trousers, a navy coat, and brown tekkie shoes at the time he was last seen. Police have issued a nationwide alert, urging anyone who may have seen him to come forward.
Community and Police Response
Detective Sergeant Lefy Coetzee of the Mlungisi Detectives emphasised the urgency of the case: “We are asking the community to assist us in locating Mr. Tsotetsi. Every piece of information, no matter how small, could help bring him home safely.” Detective Coetzee can be reached at 072 531 7060.
Since his disappearance, the Mlungisi police have conducted searches in nearby streets, visited relatives’ homes, and canvassed the community. Local volunteers have joined in, highlighting the tight-knit nature of the Mlungisi community. Despite these efforts, no leads have been confirmed, and the search continues.
Why This Disappearance is Concerning
Authorities point out that at his age, Mr. Tsotetsi may be vulnerable, particularly if he is alone or in unfamiliar areas. Health conditions, mobility challenges, and potential exposure to the elements all increase the urgency of locating him.

A Call for Solidarity
The disappearance of a senior community member has sparked concern across Mlungisi and the wider Komani area. Local residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and assist wherever possible.
