Komani residents support patients at Phelophepa Health Train
In a heartwarming display of community spirit, local residents have united to support patients accessing free health services from the Phelophepa Health Care Train.
The Komani community came together to support residents accessing services from the Phelophepa Health Care Train, operating from 23 to 27 March.
Local volunteers have set up a temporary shelter and provide meals and refreshments to individuals waiting in queues or sleeping overnight for free health services.
The initiative is a testament to the power of community-led efforts, with volunteers digging into their own pockets to ensure no one goes hungry.
“We’re proud to support our community in this way,” said Anam Njikela, a volunteer.
“Every small act of kindness counts.”
The organisers acknowledge the support of partner organisations such as Clean Queenstown, Feed Komani, and TakeBackKomani, who have played a key role in strengthening the impact of the initiative.
“The collective effort is making a real difference,” added Onwaba Swartbooi, another volunteer.
“We’re seeing the impact of unity and compassion,” he said.
The initiative has received support from local stakeholders, including Zamaland Tavern and Sam’s Can Service, and serves over 100 people daily.
The community is encouraged to support the effort through donations, volunteering, or assistance.
