ALIWAL NORTH – Ikhala TVET College has announced a major academic and professional milestone by its Aliwal North Campus Manager, Mr Felix Mfihlakalo Vuthela, whose work has earned both a postgraduate qualification and national recognition.

His research focused on the effectiveness of the TVET curriculum in the Eastern Cape, with particular attention to how well current programmes prepare students for the realities of the workplace. The study further examined skills development and the alignment of training with the province’s broader socio-economic needs, a critical issue in a region facing high unemployment and skills shortages.

Drawing on his extensive experience in college leadership, Mr Vuthela’s research offered practical, evidence-based insights into curriculum challenges within the TVET system. It also identified opportunities for strengthening programme relevance, improving graduate employability, and enhancing the overall impact of TVET colleges in supporting local and provincial economic development.
