FOUND AFTER EIGHT MONTHS!

The long, painful wait for the family of Anelisiwe Vondo is finally over. The 16-year-old girl, who vanished from her home in Mlungisi Location eight months ago, has been found safe and sound.

Anelisiwe, a Grade 8 learner from KwaKomani, disappeared in mid-2025 after leaving her house to go to a nearby shop. For months, her family searched in vain, fearing the worst as the days turned into weeks and then months.

Following an appeal published by Komani News on 17 December, the power of the community took over. Anelisiwe’s sister confirmed to Komani News today, 8 January 2026, that the teenager was located in Ilinge.

The sister revealed that eagle-eyed community members spotted the girl after seeing the article and contacted the family privately via social media.

“I found her in Ilinge. These are people who saw her and inboxed me privately. She told me where she is, then she went and took her to that house and brought her to me in town,” the sister said.

The family expressed deep relief and gratitude, stating that the published article played a crucial role in bringing Anelisiwe home. While the details surrounding her eight-month absence remain private, her family confirmed she is back in their care.

The family thanked everyone who shared the post and provided information that led to the safe return of their daughter.
