Border-Kei Chamber of Business Calls on Community to Stand Against GBV

Komani, Eastern Cape — The Border-Kei Chamber of Business (BKCOB) has issued a strong call for action against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Femicide, urging all members, stakeholders, and the wider community to stand in solidarity.

The Chamber is encouraging participation in a symbolic 15-minute stand tomorrow, 21 November 2025, from 12:00 to 12:15, to raise awareness and demonstrate unity in the fight against GBV.

Standing Together for Change

“The G20 Women’s Empowerment Working Group has made gender-based violence a core priority ahead of the G20 Summit, stressing that no real economic progress is possible while women remain unsafe,” the BKCOB statement reads.

The Chamber highlighted the need for stronger policies, coordinated national responses, improved protection systems, and greater financial inclusion to combat GBV and support women’s empowerment.

BKCOB Women’s Forum Solidarity

The BKCOB Women’s Forum emphasised that women’s safety is central to economic growth and social development. By joining the initiative, local businesses and citizens alike can send a unified message against violence and discrimination.
