Tamboekie Festival Opens Talent Show and Pageant Entries

KOMANI residents are being invited to take part in two competitions ahead of the 2026 Tamboekie Festival, with auditions for the festival’s talent show and Miss Tamboekie Pageant taking place this week.

The Tamboekie Festival Talent Show will hold its first audition on Friday, 28 August at 14:30 at the Unathi Mkefa Hall in Ezibeleni.

A second audition will take place on 4 September at 14:30 at the Indoor Sports Centre in Mlungisi.

The competition offers a R7 000 first prize, with R3 500 for second place and R2 000 for third place.

Meanwhile, casting for the Miss Tamboekie Pageant 2026 will take place on Saturday, 29 August at the Border Agricultural Society, 1A Stephenson Road, Queendustria, Komani.

Registration will run from 09:00 to 10:00, followed by casting from 10:00 to 12:00, shortlisting from 12:00 to 13:00 and a workshop from 13:00 to 15:00.

The pageant is open to girls and young women aged 14 to 19 who are based in Komani or surrounding areas. Entrants younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A copy of an ID or birth certificate is also required.

No pre-registration is needed, with entrants able to register in person on the day.

The Tamboekie Festival itself is scheduled for 2 and 3 October 2026 at the Showgrounds in Queendustria, Komani.
