Clean Queenstown Launches Fourth Annual Christmas Toy Drive
With Christmas just a week away, community organisation Clean Queenstown has launched its fourth annual Christmas Toy Collection Drive, calling on residents and local businesses to help bring joy to underprivileged children across Queenstown and surrounding areas.
The initiative, which has become a regular feature on the town’s festive calendar, aims to collect new or gently used toys that will be distributed to children from vulnerable households ahead of Christmas Day. Clean Queenstown says the drive is about more than donations — it is about restoring dignity, spreading kindness and ensuring that no child in the community feels forgotten during the festive season.
The Christmas Toy Drive has grown steadily
Over the past four years, the Christmas Toy Drive has grown steadily, supported by residents who believe in the importance of collective responsibility and community upliftment. The organisation has consistently focused on grassroots action, encouraging ordinary people to make a meaningful difference with small but impactful contributions.
Members of the public who wish to support the drive can donate toys at the designated collection box located at SPAR Queenstown. Donations may include new toys or slightly used items that are still in good condition and safe for children to enjoy. Clean Queenstown has emphasised that all donated items will be carefully handled to ensure they reach children who need them most.
For those unable to drop off toys in person, alternative arrangements can be made by contacting the chairperson, Simamnkele Mabutho Vanqa, on 081 882 5271, to organise collection of donated items.
The festive season can be particularly difficult for many families facing economic hardship
The organisation has highlighted that the festive season can be particularly difficult for many families facing economic hardship, with children often feeling the impact most deeply. By supporting the toy drive, residents have an opportunity to help create moments of happiness and play during a time that should be filled with warmth and celebration.
Clean Queenstown continues to play an active role in community-driven initiatives aimed at improving both the physical environment and the social well-being of Queenstown. The Christmas Toy Collection Drive forms part of its broader mission to foster unity, compassion and positive action within the town.
As Christmas approaches, the organisation has encouraged residents to give what they can, reminding the community that even a single toy can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.
Toy drive will continue until just before Christmas
The toy drive will continue until just before Christmas, allowing enough time for sorting and distribution to ensure children can enjoy their gifts during the festive period.
Residents are urged to support the initiative and help make this Christmas a joyful and playful one for Queenstown’s children under the banner of #CleanQueenstown.
