G20 Awareness Drive Kicks Off at Komani Taxi Rank

Komani, Eastern Cape – A G20 awareness activation is currently underway at the Komani Taxi Rank, aiming to inform residents about the upcoming G20 Social and Leaders Summits.

The activation seeks to engage the local community and raise awareness about the significance of the global summits scheduled for November 2025. The G20 Social Summit will take place from 18 to 20 November at the Birchwood Hotel, while the G20 Leaders Summit is scheduled for 22 to 23 November at the Johannesburg Expo Centre (NASREC). The overarching theme for this year is “Solidarity, Equality, Sustainability.”

Collaboration Between Stakeholders

The awareness campaign involves multiple stakeholders, including the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Thuthuzela Care Centre, the Department of Social Development, and the Chris Hani District Municipality.

The initiative is part of a nationwide effort by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) to ensure South Africans understand the objectives of the G20 Summits, and the expected impact on social, economic, and governance issues.

Members of the public visiting the taxi rank are being provided with information materials, interactive discussions, and guidance on how the outcomes of the G20 Summits can affect local communities.

GCIS spokespersons highlighted that these activations are crucial to fostering civic engagement and encouraging citizens to participate in discussions around social development, equality, and sustainable growth.
