SISTER STOLE MY INHERITANCE!
SIBLINGS ATE MY HOUSE MONEY!
KOMANI – A family is at war after a woman discovered her own sisters allegedly used a “KFC trick” to drain her R200,000 inheritance.
The victim, who recently moved from Komani to East London, says her parents sold the family home for R500,000. The plan was for the children to split the cash, with the victim set to receive a life-changing R200,000.
However, a “lost” bank card turned her blessing into a nightmare.
While visiting Komani last year, the victim’s son misplaced his bank card. A relative allegedly got hold of the card but did not return it. Instead, the relative claimed she was using the card to receive a small transfer to buy KFC for the family.
The victim did not suspect a thing. She even thought her sister was being kind by sending her small amounts of “help” money to survive in East London. Little did she know, her full R200,000 share of the house sale had been paid into that “lost” card’s account. Because the sister had the card, she was able to spend the money while the victim was left in the dark.
The ugly truth came out in August. When the victim finally checked the account, she found that her massive inheritance had been paid in—and then systematically stolen.
“My sisters admitted they took the money,” the victim told Komani News. “I have submitted bank statements and proof to the police, but the wheels of justice are turning too slowly.”
The victim tried the Small Claims Court, but the R200,000 amount was too high for them to handle. Legal Aid is now requesting proof of the house sale before they can take the matter further.
A theft docket was opened in East London and transferred to Mlungisi Police Station in Komani. Despite having clear evidence and case numbers, the victim is still waiting for SAPS to take action.
At the time of going to print, the police spokesperson was unavailable for comment.
