Late-Night Accident on R409 Near Tsomo, Several Injured

Tsomo, Eastern Cape – At around 22:00 on 9 February, a single-vehicle accident occurred on the R409, approximately 3 km from Tsomo town.

A white Toyota Yaris lost control while travelling along the road, overturned, and left the roadway, ultimately coming to rest under a bridge.

The vehicle was carrying five occupants at the time of the incident. Emergency services responded promptly, with EMS teams attending the scene to assess and assist those involved.

Three occupants were transported to Cofimvaba Hospital for further medical attention. Reports confirmed that there were no fatalities resulting from the accident.

The incident was attended by local emergency units and the Tsomo SAPS, who assisted in securing the scene and ensuring the safety of other motorists in the area.

This accident highlights the importance of road safety, particularly when driving at night or on sections of road with bends and bridges.
