Premier Mabuyane Visits Ngcobo School and Family of Slain Principal

NGCOBO – Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane has pledged that government will pursue justice and help rebuild a Ngcobo school following the tragic death of Kanyolwethu School principal, Mr Ntentema.

The Premier, accompanied by Chris Hani District Municipality Chief Whip Nobantu Macingwane, Chris Hani East Acting District Director Buntu Mnqanqeni and other stakeholders, visited the Ntentema family and Kanyolwethu School on Friday to offer condolences and support.

The delegation joined family members, educators and learners in a prayer service as the community continues to grapple with the loss of the respected school leader.

Addressing mourners during the visit, Mabuyane said government would work tirelessly to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

“No child should lose a teacher to violence. No school should mourn its principal in this way. As government, we will leave no stone unturned to find the person responsible,” he said.

The Premier also committed to supporting the school’s recovery.

“We will rebuild Kanyolwethu School, not just the buildings, but the hope. The principal’s legacy must stand taller than this tragedy.”

Macingwane described the late principal as a dedicated educator who helped shape the futures of countless young people.

“We have lost not just a principal, but a builder of futures. As we mourn, we must also act. Our promise to Kanyolwethu is clear: the teaching and learning of these children will not fall.”

She said government would continue supporting the family, staff and learners while efforts to secure justice continue.

The Chris Hani East Education District said it stands firmly with the Ntentema family and the Kanyolwethu School community during this difficult period, and remains committed to the healing, safety and future of learners.

The visit comes as communities across the province continue to express concern over violence affecting schools and educators, with calls growing for swift action against those responsible.
