Taxi Association Warns Public to Report Extortion in Komani
Uncedo Taxi Association Komani chairman Zingisile Joseph Qolo has warned passengers to report any extortion by the former association leaders.
According to Qolo, the people are patrolling in the streets of Komani demanding money from people.
“We have reports of these members going around patrolling with cars with Uncedo Taxi Association emblem.
“They claim to be patrolling for cars that are taking hitchhikers illegally. What these people are doing is not lawful,” he said.
He said these people are robbing people, taking their monies.
“When they come to you, please report them to me immediately on 0838613465 or 0834389285,” he said.
Qolo urged people to report the extortionist to the association.
“This is becoming prevalent as the people who are behind this are the same people who used to extort association members,” he said.
Qolo said the association in Komani is United and is not involved in extortion..
Qolo also warned passengers of people using their cars to rob people of their bank cards.
“We would like to urge people to report these people to me also as they using our cars to steal from the poor.
“If you have experienced this, please check the number plate and the driver of the car. Report them to me and the association will take actions against anyone involved in wrong doing,” said Qolo.
