Local Schools and Farmers Rewarded at Chris Hani Ag Show 2025
Chris Hani District Agricultural Show 2025 Celebrates Local Talent and Farming Excellence
Komani, Eastern Cape — The Chris Hani District Agricultural Show 2025 kicked off in style today at the Thobi Kula Indoor Sport Centre, showcasing the district’s agricultural talent and innovation. The event was led by MEC Nonceba Kotsiwe and supported by CHDM leadership, including MMC for Budget & Treasury Cllr Sinomtha Lali Madubedube and MMC for Corporate Services Cllr Thumeka Bikwana.
All six municipalities and four agricultural schools across the district took part, displaying a variety of agricultural projects and initiatives. Participants were recognised for their dedication, skill, and contribution to advancing the local agricultural sector.

Farmers and Stalls Category Winners

Winner: Enoch Mgijima – R20 000

1st Runner-up: Zebra (Intsika Yethu) – R10 000

2nd Runner-up: Dr AB Xhuma – R15 000
In addition, each participating municipality received R5 000 from the Department in recognition of their ongoing commitment to supporting agriculture and rural development.
MEC Kotsiwe praised the participants and encouraged farmers to maintain high standards in both primary and value-added agricultural production. “Your dedication strengthens food security and drives economic growth across the district. I urge you to continue innovating and producing quality products that benefit our communities,” she said.
The annual agricultural show highlights the district’s efforts to promote sustainable farming, youth participation in agriculture, and local economic empowerment. Attendees enjoyed a vibrant display of talent, from school projects to commercial farming innovations, demonstrating the district’s potential as a hub for agricultural excellence.
